The Roblox Moment

Last month, my buddy's VP of Finance started creating financial models... inside Roblox. Not Excel. Roblox. The video game.

My jaw dropped. "Why?" I asked.

"Because AI can build anything there in seconds," he said. "And the models actually work."

That's when it hit me: the future of operations isn't incremental improvements to existing tools. It's completely reimagining how work gets done.

The Journey

Weekly Reporting Prototype: Started with a simple question - why are we spending 6 hours every week compiling the same KPI reports? Built an autonomous agent that pulls data, generates insights, and sends formatted decks. Result: team got their Fridays back.

SOP Video Bot: Next challenge - onboarding documentation that nobody updates. Created a bot that watches screen recordings and generates step-by-step SOPs. What used to take days now takes minutes.

AI-Ops Community: Now I'm part of a growing movement of operators who refuse to accept "that's how we've always done it." We're building the future of work, one automated workflow at a time.

The Bitter Lesson

Rich Sutton taught AI researchers that general methods leveraging computation beat human cleverness every time. The same applies to operations: the organizations that will win aren't tweaking existing processes—they're building AI-first workflows from scratch.

Every week in my newsletter, I share one concrete way to apply this lesson. No theory. Just "here's what worked this week" with code you can steal.
